newgroups plugin to website
Just a thought. How would one go about integrating newgroups such are this
one into your website where users can post a reply.
I havent started looking into it yet. and it might be pretty simple thing.
Just lemme know your thoughts,
Regards,
Hermit DaveThere are actually several out there that are basically web-portals for
newsgroups both open-source projects you could deploy and production sites
that are running today. Many of them are actually for programming-related
discussions such as this... (especially since microsoft allows anon access
to their servers)
I forget the names of several, but definately search first because there's
out there!

Hi maheshsingh,
You can create news header links dynamicly in code-behind files. Then every times, when user look through it, the server will response as news header links.
Hope this helps. Thanks.

News section of the website
up with news material,we'd like to have some microsoft related news in that
section besides our own news which are not enough to make that page
stuffed.I just wondered if there is a webservice or something we can use
there so we don't manually update that section.Any ideas?
ThanksLook at RSS feeds:

news website
1) Is there any software to do that work
2) Database can store short text ( at least what I have been working with, less than 60 character
3) If both answer to 1 and 2 is NO, what is the common way that website like what I am intending to run would do.
Regards.

I'm not sure about software that will do this for you, but you can use a SQL Server database to store your articles depending on the length. Using the varchar datatype you can store anything from 1 to 8000 characters. If your articles will fit within this range, this would be the best solution because you can add columns for both topic and time or date, which you can then sort them through your database query.
Hope this helps somewhat,

News ticker... RSS
I want to add a news ticker on my website. I've used .net 2.0, and created webpage in visual studio 2005. I want the newslinks to open in a new window. I think it is called a rss-feeder or something..? To list 6 or seven links would be perfect..
The rss is: "http://www.mylder.no/rss/?kategori=5";
So what part dont you know? How to make the list display? how to consume the external list/feed? how to make the link open in a new window? To be honest, I dont have a clue. I know I will have to have some code in the page load, and a listview or something? Anyway, im new in programming, and I am developing my first webpage nowadays. Maybe someone has some existing code i can just paste into my solution?
Then I'd start by looking at the starter kits.
Im using the small business starter kit. However, there is no module concerning rss feeder. So I was hoping someone could help me. The webpage is up and running btw :)
I found the answer in the open source toolkit:http://www.codeplex.com/ASPNETRSSToolkit
It really works great on my web page now!
