newbie: How do I add a project....

Hey

visual studio 2005

I have a asp.net 2.0 project and a class library project. Both projects
created in visual studio 2005. I want to add the class library project to
the asp.net 2.0 project.

I want to add the library project so that I can reference the project,
instead of the compiled file...

I've already tryed to using the "Add Existing Item..." window in the asp.net
2.0 project, which only added the file I selected (.sln file). I don't think
this is the correct way of doing it...

Any suggestions?

JeffHi Jeff,

File->Open Project/Solution and remember to mark Add to solution instead
of Close solution.

newbie: installing visual web developer express 2005

Hey
When installing visual web developer 2005, the installation suggest
installing on C: But I want to install it on D:, because I only got 1.6 GB
available on C: and D has 30 GB available...
So I change installation location from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual
Studio 8\ -> D:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\...
But even if I change to D: the installation says it will install 1.8 GB on
C: and 78 MB on D: (When C: is selected, it install everything on C:, all
the 1.8GB)
Is it possible to install everything on D: or do have to delete files from
my C: to make space for visual web developer 2005 express? This is on a
winxp pro system. I want to have atleast 1GB free space on C: for swap files
etc (maybe I should change the swap file to d:)
any suggestions?
JeffHi Jeff,
The .NET Framework, on which VWDE relies, wants to be installed on the
system drive, which is probably C:.
You could move your swap file to D: and might even see a performance gain.

Hi, Jeff.
VS 2005 requires a lot of available space in the system drive,
although there's a lot of it you can install on a data drive.
The choice is available at setup time.
If you have 30GB free on D: and only 1.6 GB free on C:, what I'd suggest
is that you install WinXP Pro on D: and make D: your system drive.
You can then not have to worry about free system drive space, and you can ea
sily
install VWD Express and SQL Server 2005 Express on your new system drive ( D
: ).
You will breathe a lot easier after you do that.
Then, you could wipe clean your C: drive and place your swap file in it.
Sometimes, a clean break is a much better choice.

newbie: problem with master pages!

Hey
I'm creating a simple helloworld project in visual web developer 2005
express
In my my project I've created a simple master page, that contains 1 table (3
rows x 3 columns) and 1 contentplaceholder. The contentplaceholder is placed
at row 2, column 2 (that means it's in the centre cell in the table)...
After creating the master mage, I then created a new web page that uses this
master page. In this web page I added a calendar. But my PROBLEM occur when
I run this website, the calendar is then placed a bit offset to the
left..See this link, and you see what I mean:
http://home.online.no/~au-holme/pub/66404/ (I'm using those different colors
to see where all the table cells goes) As mentioned above the
contentplaceholder is in the second row, seconds column.. but here the
contentplaceholder uses parts of column 1...
I want contentplaceholder to be in column 2, row 2, not like this (column 2
+ COLUMN 1, row 2)
What am I doing wrong here?
Maybe it's a bad idea to position contentplaceholder using tables?
Maybe Panel should be used instead for position contentplaceholder?
Best Regards
JeffLearn CSS Jeff. It solves all these problems but note if you are using
Themes or StyleSheetThemes with your MasterPage.
For now try to wrap your calendar in a div and play with the margin
values...
<div style="margin: .25em .25em .25em .25em">
<asp:Calendar ... />

News ticker... RSS

I want to add a news ticker on my website. I've used .net 2.0, and created webpage in visual studio 2005. I want the newslinks to open in a new window. I think it is called a rss-feeder or something..? To list 6 or seven links would be perfect..

The rss is: "http://www.mylder.no/rss/?kategori=5";

So what part dont you know? How to make the list display? how to consume the external list/feed? how to make the link open in a new window?
To be honest, I dont have a clue. I know I will have to have some code in the page load, and a listview or something? Anyway, im new in programming, and I am developing my first webpage nowadays. Maybe someone has some existing code i can just paste into my solution?
Then I'd start by looking at the starter kits.

Im using the small business starter kit. However, there is no module concerning rss feeder. So I was hoping someone could help me. The webpage is up and running btw :)

I found the answer in the open source toolkit:http://www.codeplex.com/ASPNETRSSToolkit

It really works great on my web page now!
